Chiltern Open Air Museum – Iron Age Day

We travelled back in time to the Iron Age! The children took part in a variety of activities inside an Iron Age hut, including: creating clay pottery, grinding grains to make flour, using Iron Age tools to stir cream into butter and making flatbreads ready for cooking. There was so much excitement around delving deep into Iron Age history and getting our hands on weapons, tools and materials they would have used. After lunch, we enjoyed an archaeological dig to find artefacts that gave us an insight into their lives whilst using techniques and methods to piece together evidence and clues.
