Last week, Year 6 participated in UK Parliament Week: we learned about the structure and role of Parliament here in the UK; found out about the role of an MP and researched our local MP, Daisy Cooper; watched some live debates on Parliament TV and then held our own debate and vote on whether ‘Mobile phones should be banned in school’. Monty was our Speaker and it was a hotly debated issue, with some convincing arguments on both sides. The final vote was 16 against and 10 for – much closer than I had predicted!
We are really excited about Daisy Cooper’s visit this coming Friday and the children have prepared some brilliant questions to ask her. Watch this space for photos and full details!
