Welcome to Year 1.
Our class teachers are Mrs Latham (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and Mrs Fraser (Thursday and Friday), and our teaching assistant is Mrs Cairns.

Geography- Map Skills
We had a fabulous day learning more about compass directions and using maps.

Science- Making reptile skin
We learnt that reptile skin is scaly but dry and sometimes hard. It can be smooth but also can be rough.

Science- Making Birds Nests
For Science week, we made birds nests to see how they are constructed. We realised that birds must be very skilled as it was very tricky!

Reading with our Year 4 Buddies
We continue to read our buddies in year 4. We love sharing our stories with them.

Maths-Using a human tens frame to learn about subtraction
In Maths, we have been learning about subtraction using a human tens frame and passengers on a bus.

Science-Animals-Fish
In Science, we learnt about fish, in particular parts of a fish and how it differs to other animals. We made our own 3D fish.

Science-Animals-Amphibians
As part of our learning about amphibians, we made webbed feet to learn about how important they are for swimming. We tested our webbed feet in water compared to no webbed feet and noticed how the water is forced back more with the webbed feet.

Science- Learning about Animals-Birds
We learnt all about birds and how they use their beaks to build a nest. We made our our beaks and tested how easy or difficult it was to collect items. We then made our own nests.
